Chaps, there has been some movement at the station. In an endeavour to move things along on the Colorado Central Porter Class (so that we can get on and do the Californian Porter for chapter 2), We've had some help in getting some pilots, cabs and tender kits put together for class members to use. note you dont need any kits to do this model if you're willing to cut the parts yourself from the PDFs in the Porter Class, however these kits save a load of time. These selected kits are now available from Bronson Tate Architectural Models. We're not closing the loop on our best supporter Rick Raively, who will ultimately provide whole kits for the models, however we need to give Rick more time, and it may be appropriate to run the Californian Porter kits via Rick, and build the CCRR Porters using Doug's kits.

Doug's web site and contact details:
http://www.bronson-tate.com/sms.shtml

Here is a link directly to the Masterclass kits on offer:
http://www.bronson-tate.com/kits/master-class/index.shtml
Please email your queries to Doug via the e-mail link there.

Note also that Doug is laser cutting the Mason Bogie 6 wheel tender truck:

Please note with all of these styrene kits that while they have been adapted from the PDF designs I designed for the class, I ask no royalties or payment for the kit sales. I prefer to remain unconnected to the business of trains. It should also be noted that I asked Doug to produce these kits for the class to get things moving. Making money from this is not the intent, rather model builders helping model builders.

Porter Class Kits-
For the Porter Class, there are two Pilot kits to be run yet, but in the mean time, here are the Cab and Tender kits for the Colorado Central Porters - all are available from Bronson Tate Architectural Models.

Kit #1 - The fully Arched Window Cab.
This is the cab used on CCRR #4 - complete with arched front and side windows, and oval name plate to the cab sides. Here are the kit contents:

The kit comprises all the main assembly parts, and includes the sliding window sashes and the rear cab support. You will need to add cornice strips and sills from styrene strip (not worth laser cutting).
Cab kits will run at $30.00 plus S&H.

Kit #2 - Cab Kit with Square Front Windows
This kit is almost identical to the kit above, except the front windows are square, not arched, as used on most of the CCRR Porters. Also note that the name panel to the cab sides is also rectangular.

Kit price will be $30.00 + S&H.

Kit #3 - 4 wheel Tender Kit
This is for the original 4 wheel tenders used on the CCRR Porters. The kit is for the basic structure and chassis. Designed to fit the Hartland mid sized wheels, per the class instructions. You will need to detail and apply embossed wrappers to the tank sides per the class instructions. The kit is designed to remove all the hart cutting from the job. Also the tender flare and corners are provided in the kit, along with journal lids and coulping arm.

Kit Price is $35.00 + S&H.

Kit #4 - 6 wheel Tender Kit.
This kit is for the 6 wheel CCRR tender. Again designed for Hartland metal wheels. Like the 4 wheel tender kit, this kit will require additional detaling and wrappers per the class instructions. The kit comprises all the tough cutting, flare, chassis and frame members. The CCRR 6 wheel tender came in two heights. This kit has a cut line embossed to the tank sides to enable the top 1/3 of the tank to be snapped off, creating the lower tender tank. You'll see the cut line 2/3 up the side of the tender shell in the photos below. When clad with the wrappers, the line wont be visible on the tall tank version.

Kit price is #35.00 +S&H.

We'll display the Pilot kits shortly, also we're looking at a wood kit option to the same kit patterns.

Porter #4 Classic Rogers sand dome top.
As noted in the class materials, Ward Hammond of Classic Reflections is offering cast resin Rogers sand dome tops, sized to suite our Porters. The dome size is also perfect for other Rogers locos such as the Rogers NZR 2-4-2 or Lady Ryanne 2-4-4T (as these are all the same size at the dome top!).

Please refer orders and queries to Ward Hammond at:
www.classicreflections.biz
or Ph 281-290-0424
Note that Ward also offers the Carter Bros flip over seats - a much more detailed version of the seats we provided in the Carter Kits.

Well thats about it, lets see those Porters start rolling out now!

Fletch.
