I was on the verge (like hit submit!) on buying a set of 4 logging cars.   My railroad is 1930ish era so I would like cars that are of that era or earlier.  I should clarify by saying I am not prototypical but have an eye for the proper use of materials and era technology.
There are some fine examples of some modified Bachmanns in the Beginners Forum. A bit short but I could be prompted to lengthen them as someone did.  I also looked at AMS which seems much newer. The AMS was longer though and I wonder if I could change the crossbeams over to dimensional lumber to 'age' the car.  Finally, I searched for plans to scratchbuild but couldn't find any, some were out of print.  Whatever I go with I would like the option of upgrading the wheel sets.  I will be pusing some 4-5% grades on next years construction and want to buy all the help I can get on easy rolling.

Any ideas for a new "logger"?  The Crowfoot Valley Lumber Company is set to branch off the mother company next year.

Thanks, Bill
