On a whim at Diamondhead last January, I bought a Regner #20209 whistle kit. Yesterday, I finally got around to installing it on my Accucraft 4-4-0. Guess what--the thread on the separate whistle valve body is a match to the thread of the unused port on the boiler backhead. A copper washer and a bit of Loctite thread compound and the valve was in place. It took longer to bend and fit the copper tube to the whistle. The kit includes everything--whistle, valve, tubing, fittings--for less than $50. The lever position on the valve body is adjustable, and I placed the whistle crossways on top of the boiler--it just fits between the boiler fill and the front cab wall. With the aperature facing down, the exhaust vents thru the fireman's window. For such a small diameter, the shrillness isn't bad. I find it a pleasant sound, appropriate for the teakettle engine. Fun job! Larry
