It is a very unusual metric thread: M4.5 * 0.5mm. It used to be available from:

Good luck on getting the Ronson fuel valves. I called SS about two or three months ago and they didn't have any.
Maybe they have received some since I called.

the Ronson fuel valves are (or were) the same ones used in a Ronson cigarette lighter. You might check at a local smoke shop.
Gather, friends, while we enquire, into trains propelled by fire....

Actually there are two different sizes available.
Gas Tank Filler Valve (Ronson style) Butane gas filler valve installed in most commerical models. (4.5mm) FVG-R
Aster Gas Tank Filler Valve type used on Aster loco's (5.0mm) FVG-A

Indeed there are different threads. So make sure you get the valve before you drill the hole.

For the valves try Roundhouse. It is where I bought mine about 6 of them. And for the tap I used MSC www.mscdirect.com. Only a few dollars for the tap compared to E-Taps at almost 30.00 Both companys were fast with response and shipping.
