Does anyone happen to know what thread Accucraft uses in the backheads of its boilers?  I'm talking about the one that is center above the flu -- came with a clank valve on the mogul, and plugged on the 4-4-0.

Is the threaded plug at the top of the water glass banjo on the 4-4-0 the same thread?

[FYI, I'm trying to figure out how to use that pre-existing hole both as a water feed and a steam pre-heat tap.  Maybe not practical to do both though.]

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

The thread is M5 x .5 mm. Unfortunatly most after market fittings are 3/16 x 40 . However, David bailey makes a globe valve that threads into this backhead bushing.

Joe,

Those metric sizes are common in europe, so Germany is a good source for parts with that thread. We did an order to Ralph Reppingen for check valves a few years ago. (http://www.reppingen.de/ I have one with a banjo on the backhead of my Accu C-16 and it has been very successful. Ralph's english isn't too great, so email me if you want a contact in Austria (Bert) who knows the scene and can help with any orders.
