Does anyone know the code you use to make a long link show up with only one word to click on?

Becky
The only way that I've been able to do it reliably is to use the full editor window by using Add Reply button or click the Reply icon in the message header. When once there I click the Source button in the top right tool bar. Then type in the HTML code.
For an on-line HTML reference try the following link below check out the Create Hyperlinks link in the Examples area.
Here's an example of what I think you're trying to do.

Becky, I just struggled through this. Maybe this will help.
Here is is my signature image.
And here is the code I used. View source to see everything, and remove the asterisks (*) to make it work.
<*html> <*body> <*p> <*a href="http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/dawgnabbit/signature.jpg"> Here is is my signature image. <*/p> <*/body> <*/html>

Becky - the source code for a hyperlink is...
< a$href="URL" >Text< /a >
with no spaces except the "$" between "a" and "href" - the URL must be enclosed within double-quotes. "Text" is what you will see as underlined, clickable text.
If you go to the full Reply page (not Quick Reply), there is a "Source" button as the first item in the Toolbar. This allows you to type in the html directly, and is what I've been using for certain things like links and sigs.
< a$href="http://www.SantaCruzLumberCo.com >Santa Cruz Lumber Co.< /a>
(again with no spaces except the "$") results in this...
Santa Cruz Lumber Co. |

That W3Schools site is the best reference place for HTML and any other Internet standard you want to get into. Plus the tutorials are good and interactive to boot. You might want to make a fav bookmark for it on your system.. |

Type in the text that you want to be the link, then highlight it with your mouse, and then click on the link button in the toolbar, add in the url and voila, a link. |

That is easy! Much, much better than hard-coding it!
A minor point: Since the automatically created link isn't automatically underlined when the message is posted (at least it's not on my screen) a nearly color-blind guy like me has trouble spotting the active links. Info only, not a request for change.

Like Becky ask on how ... I did like Shad sugguested for a test... "Type in name i wanted" then highlight it with mouse and then click on Link ( chain icon) Copy the link out of my web site on MLS. then paste it in the link box.
Now trying it. Dwight's testing steam
Hot doggies ... It worked.. tks Shad. and Dwights work to, but have to type in the link.
oh.... Found out by hitting Shift & Enter key at the same time, It will go to next line in stead of dropping down two spaces here .
Instead of this.
"Hope Shad get a spell ck (button) program to down load when he get a chance.. it's not working yet for us old guys."
Keep up the questions Becky.. I'm learing new stuff. Noel

Huh? It didn't work. Does anybody have any advice? I tried to follow Dwights instructions. Does he mean to replace the "$" with a space and remove all the other spaces? because that is what I tried.
Thanks.

Do like Shad said and use the Reply button and you don't need to know any code and you don't even need to type in the URL just add the URL by copying and pasting and use the "Insert Hyperlink" button...

I think it is important to note that there is no "insert hyperlink" button on my reply page tool bar. I guess that is because I am not a first class member. It's just not in my train budget right now to join. The only buttons I get are: bold, italic, underline, right justify, center justify, left justify and the emoticons menu.
I understand that getting all these fancy schmancy buttons is one of the perks of being a first class member but I just wanted to see if there was a way to manually enter the code for those of us who are not first class members. And I did just copy and paste the URL, but I typed in the code based on how I interpereted Dwights instructions above. You can see the results. I got a link with messed up code mixed into it so when you click it it doesn't work.
Thanks. I appreciate the help.
Regards,

Regards,
It looks to me like you forgot to add the < /a> to the end...
also, when looking at the HTML code that got created there appears to be several changes to the font characteristics (name, size, underline, etc.) that just will not work when inserted into a link. I don't know if you intended or deliberately (realizing it or not) to do that font stuff or not, but it seems to be there anyway. HTML language is very exacting and if there is anything in the text that it cannot interpret, it just tosses most of it and does what it can, which sometimes ain't much.

There IS an "Insert Hyperlink" button...
The left button inserts a hyperlink. The right button breaks a link. To use...
1 - Type the text you wish to appear as a link
2 - Highlight it
3 - Click the Insert Hyperlink (left) button
4 - paste the URL into the resulting dialog box.
After Step 2 and before Step 3, I usually click both the Bold and Underline buttons. Not required, but I prefer the resulting appearance.

Sorry - I misunderstood your question. To insert a link, use standard html code...
<*a target="_blank" href="URL">Text to link<*/a>

Just to add further to what Dwight stated in the above reply.
First off it depends on which editor you're speaking of...
Further, in the case of the "Rich-text HTML Editor" it depends on the individual's membership level.
In the case of using the "Quick Reply" editor, currently the only format available to address the long URL address is the HTML version is as stated by Dwight, regardless of MLS membership level.
In the case of the full "Rich-text HTML Editor", first off there is no "Insert Hyperlink" button available on the tool-bar presented to standard "MLS Registered Member" membership level. So, the only option is once again to use the HTML version, however, there's a catch (isn't there always ) to use it you've got to be in the "HTML View" mode and not the "Normal View" mode (i.e. control buttons located just below the lower-left of the content area). Else the editor simply converts the HTML tags to their HTML entity equivalent as it was designed to do because it's assumed that you want to display everything as text.
In the case of the MLS 1st Class membership level, then use the "Insert Hyperlink" button on the tool-bar as stated above.
